The circle of women around us weave invisible nets of love that carry us when we are weak and sing with us when we are strong.
Lauren comes to doula work as a second career. Her passion for information on pregnancy and birth began while trying to get pregnant and planning a home birth with her first daughter. As part of this, Lauren researched many options available to birthing people in the Boston area including birthing spaces, types of providers, and the other possible decisions that could need to be made during a birth journey. After this first experience of growing a baby, birthing a baby, and feeding a baby, Lauren felt strong and powerful. This was a new feeling as she had always felt failed by her body in someway before this experience. Confidence in her physical body only grew with the second pregnancy and second birth at home.
Lauren believes that everyone deserves to feel this kind of strength and empowerment by being in control of their prenatal, birth, and postpartum experiences. Lauren believes that information leads to confident choices. With confident choices bring power and control to the birthing person.
To get started with changing the world for birthing people, Lauren took doula training with DONA and started work as a mentee with Boston Doula Circle. After some solo work, Lauren is now a full team member with BDC. Lauren left her job in IT Project Management and is so excited to be providing doula services with this wonderful group of women.
