
New Hampshire’s Lakes Region offers a plethora of options for family-friendly winter activities, and is located about 2 hours from Boston by car. While ski mountains are in abundance, families with young children may enjoy skating the Tohko Dome Ice Rink or watching one of the annual Lakes Region Sled Dog races held February 21-23. Or, families can catch a ride on the Cog Railway train to Waumbek Station, situated at elevation of 4000ft with stunning panoramic mountain views! The Prescott Farm Environmental Education Center hosts hands-on programs and nature based activities for all all ages (Upcoming programs for January through April). The Prescott Farm also offers pre-arranged activities on the property such as, seasonally-themed Adventure Packs (families can reserve 24hrs ahead), scavenger hunts, and more!
Looking for something indoors? Learn about astronomy, aviation, Earth and space science at the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center, dedicated to the legacy of NH space pioneers Christa McAuliffe and Alan Shepard Jr. Laconia NH is home to the largest arcade in the world, and upstairs you’ll find the American Classic Arcade Museum where you can choose to play from hundred of classic, coin-operated games. In Loudon NH, you can find the New England Racing Museum, located on the ground of the NH Motor Speedway.
